OTHER Cars, Made for Ladies...

Back to Home Page and Full List of Articles in Proper Order...

I was pleasantly surprised to find this extensive article on the topic...
Givenchy's Artistic Director for Makeup Nicolas Degennes says, "I dreamt of a car that would enhance the beauty of women. They would be beautiful because they would be at the helm of the new Citroen DS3, a vehicle that characterizes this era. Beautiful because of colour, the reflections on the face. Beautiful because of the liveliness of the pink interior.”

If you want a real treat, stop by "In Pictures: Pink cars to impress female buyers".  Scroll toward to see such marvels as the "Honda Fit She’s" (shown above), Mitsubishi’s Hello Kitty special edition vehicle "PrincessKitty" and others show cars designed for women.

It's an idea that simply won't die!

I was advised by Jaap Horst in the Netherlands that Daimler made 40 copies of the One-O-Four Ladies Model:

The 104 included “luxury features carrying a strong feminine appeal”, such as suitcases, a sheepskin rug and traveling rug, a shooting stick, a patented set of maps, a vanity case containing Max Factor cosmetics, electric windows, an umbrella and a picnic case, plus an ice box.

A special feature on most cars was the "Ladies model" dashboard with "juke box" styling with central polished alloy panel and special alloy switchgear.

As very well-expressed in this Web site:

"...the bird decals on these cars are obviously female. Feminine. Girls. A lot of guys bought these cars too, and more own them today (including me), but it's pretty hard to argue that the decals aren't feminine. Pontiac appeared to be aiming this car specifically at lady car collectors. I really cannot say why cars are not marketed specifically for women, but this has almost never been done."

He went on to credit the La Femme as a predecessor.
