This card came to the new owner inside the 1955 La Femme change purse, which was attached inside the purse, which came in a gold-and-gray box, along with the rain hat, rain coat and umbrella. Those boxes were kept in a stack near the end of the Dodge factory assembly-line, and a guard had to be posted, because factory-workers kept stealing them.

1948 Evans Vintage Print Advertisement: Handbag, Purse & Compact
My old theory, now disproved — I include it for reference only:
Evans, Inc. was one of the preeminent retailers of luxurious fur coats and accessories for women in the United States, and based in Chicago. The firm’s Black Diamond mink was one of its longstanding and most famous trademark furs. Although fur sales accounted for nearly 80 percent of the company’s revenues, Evans also sold a wide variety of sportswear, formal and casual dresses, and business suits for women through its retail stores and leased retail locations.
When digging through my archives for this 2022 update, a forgotten 24-year-old email set me straight on the REAL source of the 1955 La Femme purse and accessories inside:

"Gazelles" Face powder compact. Brass, loose powder, case made by the Evans Case Company of North Attleboro, MA
The Evans Case Company of North Attleboro, MA was a huge concern making accessories for men and women in America. Evans manufactured many kinds of high-quality personal heirlooms, keepsakes and knick-knacks between 1920 and 1960.
The company started much earlier. Colonel Obed Robinson was a skilled blacksmith & clock maker who began a jewelry business in Attleboro in 1807. The 1812 war meant that soldiers needed buttons & so production was changed to suit this purpose. Then, in 1920, the company shifted to making exquisite, personal items that any jewelry store would gladly sell.
