The 1956 La Femme received the same styling changes as the rest of the Dodge line, notably high-sweep fins sprouting from the rear fenders and new side trim. The three "La Femme" gold script insignia were in the same places as last year's model. The two-tone paint (Regal Orchid over Misty Orchid) was exclusive to the La Femme.

A nice piece to have...

The 2-tone lavender exterior paint colors were described as Regal Orchid and Misty Orchid in the 1956 La Femme sales brochure. These colors were in the same pattern as the 1955 model, except the tail-light area was the lighter shade. This pattern is typical of all two-tone 1956 Dodges.

The two-tone lavender exterior of the '56 La Femme was in the same pattern as the '55 with the lighter color on the bottom, but the taillight area was now the lighter shade, as on other '56 Dodges. Regal Orchid was the darker shade, Misty Orchid the lighter — both synthetic enamel.

According to a June 5, 1956 Dupont bulletin, the darker shade was Regal Orchid, DUCO #2422, DULUX 246-90270, Combination #576-1, and the lighter shade was Misty Orchid, DUCO 2421-H, DULUX 246-90269-H. As with the 1955 Dodges, "Synthetic Enamel" was the type of paint used. There is a possibility that the Regal and Misty Orchid colors were exclusive to the 1956 La Femme.

Interior Features

If ever there was a car interior into which its designers poured their entire hearts and souls, the '56 La Femme was it!

Dodge described the new pushbutton transmission controls as "The Magic Touch of Tomorrow."
Like the exterior, the dashboard sported two-tone orchid paint. Even the steering column and part of the steering wheel carried the color theme.

Inside, the gold "La Femme" badge appeared on the glovebox door.

Left: The orchid upholstery came in a random cross-hatch pattern — basically a heavy cloth with lavender loops. Right: The shimmery vinyl from the seats.

The interior was trimmed with a gold-fleck Cordagrain vinyl headliner, as were the insides of the two containers on the backs of the front seats, as well as the rain cap, umbrella and raincoat.

Passenger Side. The seat-back containers were identical to each other since a purse was not supplied in 1956, and they were slightly smaller than the ones in the '55 model.
